Settling in...

Dan is settling in nicely. He says this pet gig is WAY better than racing. He knows the secret...don't do your job well and get an early retirement!

Well, he plays his role as pet extremely well! After being with us just under two weeks, he is certainly more comfortable and is a happy boy. He seems to love his humans more than his foster brother and sister. He follows us from room to room and flops down in the floor in the middle of the action. He tries this in the kitchen while we are cooking too, he is learning to go lay quietly with the other dogs during that time but is still reluctant to do so.

He goes in his crate easily and is quiet while we are away, or in sight; however, if he can hear us outside doing yard work but can't see us, he is unhappy and will bark and howl for a few minutes to see if he can get attention. When he decides the effort is in vain, he quiets and falls asleep.

Dan is not afraid of anything. He will stay on his bed while I vacuum and I have to tell him to move. He would allow me to vacuum him, I think! He is not afraid of storms or loud noises, he sleeps right through them.

He has not made any attempt to get on the furniture even though he sees our dogs doing it. He is perfectly content on any soft thing on the floor, I caught him on a pile of laundry last week on cleaning day :)

He comes when called (unless he is just being lazy) and waits nicely for his food until he has permission to eat. He is very eager to please and likes the attention he gets for good behavior.

Dandelion is a very, very nice dog. He is truly going to bring many years of joy to his forever family. He has a wonderful disposition and is such a beautiful boy. With his easy-going attitude, he is going to adjust well in his new home. He is a joy to have around!

Dandelion Loves Retirement!

Mr. Dandelion is not wasting any time, he has jumped right into retirement! I can't say enough about what a wonderful boy he is. He has wonderful manners and is very obedient. He responds immediately to correction and is eager to please. He walks perfectly on a leash, potties on a leash and crates like a dream! He has slept soundly through his first four nights with us (on a hound bed beside the human bed) and by the third morning, began to appreciate sleeping late.

Dan seems to do well alone. We have intentionally separated him from our two greys on several occasions and he doesn't seem to mind at all. Of course, he enjoys their company and is respectful of their space while interacting well.

He certainly learned very quickly what a dog beds and toys are for. He also mastered the stairs and goes up and down them freely and on his own. He is super snuggly and will gladly share his dog bed with a human. He likes to lay his head in our laps for petting. When he gets his back scratched, he does a little dance; moving from side to side on his back legs...too cute! He has a great smile (as you can see from his photos) and is such a handsome boy.

Dan is going to bring a lot of joy to his forever family. Just take one look into his big brown eyes...you'll be hooked!
